BINDERS
Styrene Acrylic copolymers
Styrene acrylic copolymer are binders, APEO free, used in most paints for interior and exterior, sealants, two component cement based sealants, high build textured coatings, quartz coatings, sealers, moisture barrier coatings, and in many other application areas. All styrene acrylic copolymer emulsions have various workability, elastic modulus, water resistance and crack bridging abilities.
Acrylic polymer
Pure acrylic polymer is APEO free and possesses very good adhesion and scrub resistance. Pure acrylic composition ensures outstanding outdoor durability. It is suitable for most flat to gloss coatings for interior and exterior applications, including kitchens and bathrooms that require water resistance and resistance to yellowing and also for concrete floor paints and primers.
Vinyl-acrylic copolymer
Vinyl-acrylic copolymer is APEO free and is the best choice for high scrub resistance paint, water resistance and paint durability, among all other vinyl acetate based copolymers. It is versatile and easy to formulate. Vinyl-acrylic copolymer is used in a broad range of applications, for most interior coatings from flat to semi-gloss, textured coatings, primers, and plasters.
Alkyd Resins
Alkyd resins are polyester-based materials that are modified with oil or fatty acids. Alkyd resins are used in primers and top coat for wood and metals, special coatings for metal, high-class oxidative drying paints, special coatings for vehicles, glossy and matt alkyd paints, lacquers for wood and metal and road paint. Depending on the length of oil, alkyd resins have different time of drying after application.
Acrylic resin
Acrylic resin is used for producing road paint. Its benefits are:
Fast drying
- Resistant to weather and other environmental influences
- Wide compatibility with many solvents
- High resistance to corrosion, water, chemicals, and salts
- Resistant to bacteria, mold, and fungi
Opacifier
Opacifier is ammonia, formaldehyde, APEO free, designed to be used in water based paints and other coatings. It is used in paint formulations as a partial replacement of TiO2 and other extenders. This acts like a fine particle inorganic extender spacing the TiO2 particles.
SOLVENTS
Solvents are are used to dissolve, suspend or extract other materials, usually without chemically changing either the solvents or the other materials. They are used in fuels and in chemical synthesis. In paints formulations, solvents dissolve or disperse different components (such as pigment and resin), giving paint the desired consistency for application.
Xylene is used as a solvent in paint and lacquer industry.
Toluene is used as a solvent in paint and lacquer industry.
Monopropylene glycol is used to adjust drying time as well as aiding in the freeze/thaw characteristics.
Monoethylene glycol is completely miscible in water and many organic solvents. It is used in paints and emulsion polymerization.
White spirit is used as solvent for paints and varnishes, paint driers, color printing of fabrics, metal cleaning and degreasing, ink, preparation of furniture, dry cleaning industries, shoe and floor polishes, dry cleaning formulations, and in the rubber industry.
Mono propylene glycol is used as a solvent in paint and lacquer industry, ink, in the manufacture of non-ionic detergents, and in the paper making industries.
Butyl diglycol acetate acts as a solvent, leveling agent and coalescent. It improves the flow out of many finishes, even in low concentrations. It is used for paints and lacquers (including emulsion paints and textured finishes), printing inks (screen printing inks), dyes in wood stains and furniture polishes.
Texanol Ester Alcohol (2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate) is water-insoluble coalescing aid for latex paints. It provides good performance characteristics, such as scrub resistance, color development, and package stability in paints.
ADDITIVES
Additives are used to:
- Modify surface tension.
- Improve flow properties.
- Control skinning.
- Improve the finished appearance.
- Control foaming.
- Improve pigment stability.
Cellulose
Hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) is a nonionic, water-soluble powder polymer with white color. HEC is easily dissolved in cold or hot water to give crystal-clear solutions of varying viscosities, 5000 mPa·s, 15000 mPa·s, 30000 mPa·s.
HEC is used as a binder, coating polymer, protective colloid, slumping reducer, lubricity and workability enhancer, suspension and stabilization agent, shape retention enhancer and thickener. It is recommended in technologies of paints and coatings.
Paint thickener
Paint thickeners are nonionic synthetic associative thickeners used to create viscosity and provide superior flow and leveling in latex paints. Paint thickeners can be used in a variety of paint formulations.
Surfactant
Surfactants are phosphate ester, designed to improve gloss and color acceptance in waterborne latex paints. Surfactants benefits are: improve stability of finished latex, excellent wetting and dispersion of pigment, low coagulum in finished latex, improve freeze-thaw resistance, improve substrate wetting.
Neutralizing agent
Neutralizing agents are blend of organoamine and are stabilizing additive designed for easy incorporation and long-term pH stability in all types of latex, water reducible paints and coatings.
Foam control agents
Foam control agents are designed to control foam formation in water-based and alkyd paints. Foam control agents are also known as defoamers or antifoaming agents.
Dispersing agent
Dispersing agents are used for pigment dispersion on emulsions and silicon resin paints. They are recommended for Acrylic, Styrene Acrylic, and Vinyl Acrylic formulations.
Preservative (Biocide)
It is used to avoid deterioration and degradation of aqueous systems caused by bacteria, fungi, yeast in the paints and coatings industry.
Dispersion Fungistat
Dispersion fungistats are used in aqueous based materials for various aqueous systems. Fungicides are used in paints, stains, sealants, inks, textiles, and laminates.
Anti-skin agents
Anti-skin agents are methyl ethyl ketoxime used for auto-oxidative drying coatings. They are used for long, medium and short oil alkyd resins, drying oils, styrene and vinyl toluene modified alkyd resins, and epoxy ester resins.
Paint driers
Paint driers act as an oxidative catalysts and driers. They promote fast surface drying and through drying in paints and varnishes.
Fillers
Calcium carbonate is the most widely used mineral in paints and coatings industries both as a filler and – due to its special white color – as a coating pigment. Calcium carbonate is very fine, easy to disperse and has a high purity of white limestone. Main application of calcium carbonate is in: paints (interior and exterior paints, oil and synthetic resin systems), rubber, papers, plastics, adhesives, sealants.
Zinc phosphate
Zinc Phosphate is a white anti-corrosive pigment for protective coatings.
PIGMENTS
Titanium dioxide pigment
Titanium dioxide is the world’s primary pigment for providing whiteness, brightness and opacity.
Color pigments
Color pigments are inorganic pigments specially based on iron oxides. These pigments are available in different colors: red, black, brown, yellow, orange, green, blue and have various fields of application.
